Mustelid Family Portrait. 2021. 24" x 18". Wax Pastel on Board.
Mustelidae (or the weasel family) are the largest and most diverse family in the order Carnivora, but what excites me the most about these fascinating creatures are their shared attributes. All Mustelidae are highly intelligent, cunning, vicious, and fearless. This painting includes about 57 members of the family, including a few domesticated subspecies and one extinct Mustelid! Some of them are so difficult to track that little is known about them and they have only been photographed rarely (if at all)! Not pictured are several otters and badgers that look very similar. I am very happy to be able to share this piece.
